OSE inGÉ in a nutshell

OSE inGÉ aims to promote student diversity (social, cultural, territorial and gender) in access to the Grandes Ecoles and the world of engineering. The scheme is aimed at female students and/or those on grants throughout their CPGE course, to help them build their plans for the future and develop their ambitions. It helps to combat self-censorship, build self-confidence and encourage the development of all potential and talent.

The commitments of the scheme

  • Support students throughout their CPGE years, right up to the competitive entrance exams
  • Guide them in developing their career plans and aspirations
  • Help them prepare for the oral exams
  • Help them to gain a better understanding of the world of the grandes écoles, scientific careers and the world of engineering
  • Encourage them to discover and exploit their full potential
  • Help them with the logistics of taking the orals

Key figures

In 2022-2023: 42 first-year CPGE science students from 3 Toulouse high schools and 42 alumni mentors!

In 2023-2024: 30 second-year CPGE students and 49 first-year CPGE students from 6 high schools in Toulouse, 76 alumni mentors!

In 2024-2025: 44 second-year CPGE students and 70 students from the Toulouse and Montpellier academies, nearly 100 alumni mentors!

In 2025-2026: 60 second-year CPGE students and 70 students from the Toulouse and Montpellier academies, nearly 120 alumni mentors!

Our goal by 2026: to have supported 250 students from the time they start CPGE to the time they pass their competitive entrance exams!

The programme

Tailor-made mentoring

Students receive personalised, one-to-one support from an alumni mentor, depending on their availability and needs. They are supported right up to the competitive entrance exams by an alumnus of one of the schools involved who, thanks to his or her experience, support and listening skills, helps them to answer their questions and confirm their choices. The mentors receive training from experts to provide the best possible support for CPGE students under this scheme.

Immersion courses on campus

During their 2 years of CPGE, students are welcomed on campus four times. These placements are an opportunity to :

  • discover the campuses of higher education establishments,
  • talk to former CPGE students and professionals with inspiring backgrounds,
  • meet their mentors
  • consolidate their knowledge and
  • learn how to manage their CPGE years more effectively.

One-off initiatives

Once a year, an evening meeting with professionals is organised at each partner school.

7 partner high schools for 2024-2025

For this new academic year, we are continuing our commitment by opening 70 places in 2025 to first-year CPGE students from 7 schools in the Toulouse and Montpellier academies:

  • Lycées Déodat de Séverac, Pierre de Fermat and Bellevue in Toulouse,
  • Lycées Théophile Gautier and Jean Dupuy in Tarbes,
  • Lycée Joffre in Montpellier,
  • Lycée Alfonse Daudet in Nîmes

In addition to OSE inGÉ, today OSE l’ISAE-SUPAERO also means every year: 1,100 secondary school pupils benefiting, 36 schools in the Toulouse and Montpellier academies, more than 120 ISAE-SUPAERO students volunteering, more than 2,500 secondary school pupils met, and numerous projects.

Arnaud Prost, ESA reserve astronaut and ISAE-SUPAERO alumnus: “I was incredibly lucky to be here”

Fighter pilot and reserve astronaut with the European Space Agency (ESA), Arnaud Prost returned to his former school on Thursday March 28 to meet 200 secondary school students as part of the ISAE SUPAERO OSE program. It was an opportunity for him to recall the “great memories” of his student experience at ISAE-SUPAERO, his long-standing commitment to the student social outreach program and the “Aquanauts” scheme he set up with OSE l'ISAE-SUPAERO. And in passing, he offers a few words of advice to young people who might dream of following in his footsteps: “Don't let yourself be convinced that one of these paths isn't for you!” A 2017 graduate of ISAE-SUPAERO, Arnaud Prost is among those selected for the ESA Astronaut Class of 2022, alongside Sophie Adenot and Anthea Comellini, both also alumni of the school. They join other illustrious ESA astronauts who have already studied at the school: Thomas Pesquet, Luca Parmitano and Samantha Cristoforetti. Since 1970, ISAE-SUPAERO has contributed to the progress of the space age through its training, research and innovation activities. As the only organization in France to offer degree courses (engineering, master's, specialized master's, doctorate) covering all 22 space-related themes identified by CNES, the Institute offers a royal road to space careers. Discover our OSE InGÉ program

“OSE Intégrer une Grande École” with the OSE InGÉ program, ISAE-SUPAERO's student social opening program for scientific CPGE students, in partnership with the ISAE-SUPAERO Foundation, ENAC - Ecole Nationale de l'Aviation Civile and the ENAC Foundation. The OSE InGÉ program provides personalized support for young girls and scholarship-holders throughout their preparatory classes for the Grandes Ecoles (CPGE), helping them to build their future plans and develop their ambitions. The stakes are threefold: the democratization of education linked to profound rather than structural transformations, the strengthening of #social openness in the grandes écoles and the engineering field, and the creation of an innovative scheme on the scale of an Occitanie region. Begun in 2022, the program was brought to life thanks to the collaboration of the teaching teams at three Toulouse high schools: Lycée Bellevue, Lycée Déodat de Séverac and Lycée Pierre de Fermat, the mobilization of ISAE-SUPAERO alumni and the support of our partners: the Conseil Régional de La Région Occitanie / Pyrénées-Méditerranée, Airbus, Elior Group and CREPS de Toulouse. It consists of : - customized mentoring: personalized, one-to-one support from a mentor who is an alumnus of the school, depending on availability and needs. An ISAE-SUPAERO alumnus provides support right up to the competitive entrance exams, offering his or her experience, support and listening skills to help answer questions and reinforce choices; - immersion courses to discover the campus of a Grande École, talk to former CPGE students and professionals with inspiring backgrounds, meet your mentor, consolidate your knowledge and learn how to better manage your CPGE years; - one-off events at partner high schools: an #orientation evening, testimonials from professionals, conferences, dinner/debates, training for #CPGE teachers on how to support vulnerable students. ISAE-SUPAERO's OSE 2024 restitution programme

Students supported by our OSE L'ISAE-SUPAERO program restituted their projects on May 30 at the Grand Marché MIN Toulouse Occitanie! 730 middle and high school students from 6ᵉ to terminale, supported under the social openness and cordée de la réussite program, closed a year of tutoring and projects with nearly 75 achievements presented. Every year, over 120 students from the Institute, the Université Paul Sabatier Toulouse III - UPSSITECH engineering school and the École nationale de la Météorologie volunteer to organize and take part in scientific and sports workshops, tutoring programs, visits and outings 🤸‍♀️ This year, a Commitment Award was symbolically presented at the Fondation ISAE-SUPAERO Scholarship Ceremony to all the students involved, via Jules Paindessous and Odile De La Rue, loyal volunteers who have been committed to the program since they joined the Institute. Bravo to them for their support!

Sylvestre Maurice presents the SUPERCAM / Martian Exploration educational kit

The ‘SUPERCAM - Martian Exploration’ educational kit project was initiated by five partners: ISAE-SUPAERO, the Toulouse Academy, CNRS, CNES and Cité de l'espace. Under the guidance and supervision of astrophysicist Sylvestre Maurice, first-year students at ISAE-SUPAERO developed this educational tool to raise awareness of space exploration in classrooms, from sixth form to final year. This kit is available to middle and high school teachers and can be adapted to offer educational lessons related to this theme.

ISAE-SUPAERO OSE tutoring programme

Tristan, can you tell us about your tutoring?

T.D. I wanted to be tutored because I want to have every chance of succeeding in my studies thanks to the homework help offered by ISAE-SUPAERO students. I’m also really motivated by the team spirit generated by tutoring!

My plans are to work on my specialities (Science-Economics and Social Studies, but also History-Geography-Geopolitics and Science-Politics) with as many people as possible so that they can help me, support me and give me their knowledge of these subjects.

My tutoring was carried out with a great deal of understanding and professionalism on the part of the tutors, but also on the part of the teachers around us. The ease with which the tutors are able to put themselves at our level increases our self-confidence and our desire to persevere.

What did you learn from this experience?

T.D. I’ve learnt that there’s strength in numbers and that helping each other is a good way of achieving your goals. Knowing that most of the tutors are young people like us reassures us and encourages us to work and continue our studies.

What message would you like to give to young people like yourself who might be hesitant about taking the plunge?

T.D. I’d tell them not to hesitate and that it brings a lot more than it asks. Tutoring is a much less formal form of learning than classroom lessons, as the tutors and teachers are not there to assess us but to help us.

After 2 years of preparatory studies in Lyon, Samuel Falcou, now a 2nd year student, explains why he got involved in tutoring high school students.

Why did you decide to get involved in a project like this?

S.F. Tutoring is an extremely rewarding activity for us.

In engineering school, you get a lot, but sometimes it’s good to be able to give something back, and that’s extremely enriching for us. We learn a lot from interacting with high school students whose backgrounds are very different from those we’ve come into contact with in our lives.

Because of the group atmosphere that develops as the tutoring progresses, the sessions always become a good time, and at no time are they perceived as drudgery.

What projects did you work on with Tristan? How did the tutoring go?

S.F. Tristan is a high school student who is very clear about what interests him, particularly in terms of his career. So I’ve had the opportunity to talk to him at length about this.

Last year, for the French oral at the baccalauréat, we took the time to work on it, and I’m sure we’ll do the same this year for the big oral.

The tutoring has always gone very well because the students are willing and we don’t need to push them to make an effort.

What support did OSE provide in this area?

S.F. OSE is essential to this tutoring project. It is already OSE that brings the tutors together and frames the tutoring arrangements. For example, they provide the tutors with bus tickets so that they can travel to the high schools free of charge.

Numerous unifying activities are also organised throughout the year, at no cost to the tutors or the pupils: a weekend in the mountains for the first-years, dedicated to the French oral, a weekend at the seaside for the final-years’ oral, and so on.

OSE provides an extremely beneficial presence, and everything that’s needed to make tutoring a great time for both students and tutors.

What have you gained from this experience?

S.F. First of all, at first glance, it’s about teaching. In fact, that’s the core job of a tutor when you’re helping with homework. But beyond that, a bond is created, thanks to our similar ages. As a result, I got to know several high school students as friends and I was able to talk with them, which helped me to question many things about subjects such as the French school system, equal opportunities and the place of studies in our society.

3 questions to Marie Delaroche, 3ᵉ year student and MDRS 293 crew commander

Since February 18, seven ISAE-SUPAERO engineering students have been living a simulated Martian life and carrying out experiments in collaboration with CNES and several research laboratories at The Mars Society's Mars Desert Research Station (MDRS) in UTAH (USA)! For the second time, the mission is led by a woman: Marie Delaroche, a passionate #spaceexplorer, who was already part of crew 275 departing in 2023. We asked her 3 questions to find out more about the challenges of this mission and her feelings as #flightcommander! Alongside her, three young women and three young men in their 2ᵉ year of #engineering studies have taken on the roles of astronomer, scientist, botanist, journalist, health worker and onboard engineer. They are all members of the Mars Club ISAE-SUPAERO, a student association for the popularization of science focused on the Red Planet and the missions dedicated to its exploration and study. They are currently experimenting with AI4U, the artificial intelligence that assists astronauts in their daily tasks (environmental measurements, voice recognition, emergency exercises). They are also conducting a science popularization experiment in collaboration with secondary school pupils. Inspired by the film The Martian, in which an astronaut grows potatoes on the Red Planet, the aim of this experiment is to compare plant growth in Martian soil with growth in terrestrial soil! Meeting with Joseph Risson, engineering student and winner of a scholarship for his Viraj H2 project

On Friday, 8 December, the Swiss Jean-Jacques and Felicia Lopez-Loreta Foundation for Academic Excellence awarded a prize to Viraj H2, a project developed at ISAE-SUPAERO. Joseph Risson, a third-year engineering student, is studying a hybridisation between a hydrogen turboprop engine and a fuel cell in order to accelerate the decarbonisation of air transport. The €1 million grant will enable Joseph and his partner Paul de Goÿs to validate the technology behind their innovation.

“OSE Intégrer une Grande École” with the OSE InGÉ program, ISAE-SUPAERO's student social opening program for scientific CPGE students, in partnership with the ISAE-SUPAERO Foundation, ENAC - Ecole Nationale de l'Aviation Civile and the ENAC Foundation. The OSE InGÉ program provides personalized support for young girls and scholarship-holders throughout their preparatory classes for the Grandes Ecoles (CPGE), helping them to build their future plans and develop their ambitions. The stakes are threefold: the democratization of education linked to profound rather than structural transformations, the strengthening of #social openness in the grandes écoles and the engineering field, and the creation of an innovative scheme on the scale of an Occitanie region. Begun in 2022, the program was brought to life thanks to the collaboration of the teaching teams at three Toulouse high schools: Lycée Bellevue, Lycée Déodat de Séverac and Lycée Pierre de Fermat, the mobilization of ISAE-SUPAERO alumni and the support of our partners: the Conseil Régional de La Région Occitanie / Pyrénées-Méditerranée, Airbus, Elior Group and CREPS de Toulouse. It consists of : - customized mentoring: personalized, one-to-one support from a mentor who is an alumnus of the school, depending on availability and needs. An ISAE-SUPAERO alumnus provides support right up to the competitive entrance exams, offering his or her experience, support and listening skills to help answer questions and reinforce choices; - immersion courses to discover the campus of a Grande École, talk to former CPGE students and professionals with inspiring backgrounds, meet your mentor, consolidate your knowledge and learn how to better manage your CPGE years; - one-off events at partner high schools: an #orientation evening, testimonials from professionals, conferences, dinner/debates, training for #CPGE teachers on how to support vulnerable students. ISAE-SUPAERO recently welcomed some 40 companies from a wide range of industrial and service sectors to its campus. These companies, represented by alumni and HR managers, were able to share internship and job opportunities with over 500 students in attendance. The event also provided an opportunity for privileged exchanges between students and professionals on current and future challenges and projects. These close encounters were particularly enriching, providing young talent with sound advice and a mutual understanding of needs and expectations! Sylvestre Maurice presents the SUPERCAM / Martian Exploration educational kit

The ‘SUPERCAM - Martian Exploration’ educational kit project was initiated by five partners: ISAE-SUPAERO, the Toulouse Academy, CNRS, CNES and Cité de l'espace. Under the guidance and supervision of astrophysicist Sylvestre Maurice, first-year students at ISAE-SUPAERO developed this educational tool to raise awareness of space exploration in classrooms, from sixth form to final year. This kit is available to middle and high school teachers and can be adapted to offer educational lessons related to this theme.

Testimony of Joseph Risson, ingénieur 2024 alumni & co-founder of Viraj H2 From student to entrepreneur: that's the path Joseph Risson, a 2024 graduate, has taken at ISAE-SUPAERO!

Co-founder of the startup Viraj H2, created during his 3ᵉ year of engineering studies, Joseph Risson wants to contribute his expertise to the decarbonization of air travel by exploring a new hydrogen propulsion architecture! Joseph and his partner, Paul de Goÿs, were awarded the €1 million Lopez-Loreta Foundation prize in 2023 to continue their research into this innovative propulsion method, and now benefit from the support and expertise of InnovSpace, the school's official incubator, where the startup is currently housed. Like all our alumni, he plays an essential role in creating lasting links between the institution and its former students. They encourage mutual support and the sharing of professional opportunities, help strengthen the community and support future generations with their experience and resources.

Arnaud Prost, ESA reserve astronaut and ISAE-SUPAERO alumnus: “I was incredibly lucky to be here”

Fighter pilot and reserve astronaut with the European Space Agency (ESA), Arnaud Prost returned to his former school on Thursday March 28 to meet 200 secondary school students as part of the ISAE SUPAERO OSE program. It was an opportunity for him to recall the “great memories” of his student experience at ISAE-SUPAERO, his long-standing commitment to the student social outreach program and the “Aquanauts” scheme he set up with OSE l'ISAE-SUPAERO. And in passing, he offers a few words of advice to young people who might dream of following in his footsteps: “Don't let yourself be convinced that one of these paths isn't for you!” A 2017 graduate of ISAE-SUPAERO, Arnaud Prost is among those selected for the ESA Astronaut Class of 2022, alongside Sophie Adenot and Anthea Comellini, both also alumni of the school. They join other illustrious ESA astronauts who have already studied at the school: Thomas Pesquet, Luca Parmitano and Samantha Cristoforetti. Since 1970, ISAE-SUPAERO has contributed to the progress of the space age through its training, research and innovation activities. As the only organization in France to offer degree courses (engineering, master's, specialized master's, doctorate) covering all 22 space-related themes identified by CNES, the Institute offers a royal road to space careers. ISAE-SUPAERO's OSE 2024 restitution programme

Students supported by our OSE L'ISAE-SUPAERO program restituted their projects on May 30 at the Grand Marché MIN Toulouse Occitanie! 730 middle and high school students from 6ᵉ to terminale, supported under the social openness and cordée de la réussite program, closed a year of tutoring and projects with nearly 75 achievements presented. Every year, over 120 students from the Institute, the Université Paul Sabatier Toulouse III - UPSSITECH engineering school and the École nationale de la Météorologie volunteer to organize and take part in scientific and sports workshops, tutoring programs, visits and outings 🤸‍♀️ This year, a Commitment Award was symbolically presented at the Fondation ISAE-SUPAERO Scholarship Ceremony to all the students involved, via Jules Paindessous and Odile De La Rue, loyal volunteers who have been committed to the program since they joined the Institute. Bravo to them for their support!

Learners with Disabilities or Disabling Health Conditions

In accordance with the Law of 11 February 2005 on equal rights and opportunities, participation and citizenship for people with disabilities, article L123-4-1 of the French Education Code and Decree no. 2021-1480 of 12 November 2021 on the organisation of preparatory classes for the grandes écoles and the continuity of arrangements for examinations or competitions in higher education for candidates with disabilities, ISAE-SUPAERO has set up a specific support system for learners with disabilities or disabling health conditions.

Our Actions to Promote Gender Equality

Our Three-Year Action Plans

Our three-year plans are built around 4 pillars:

  • Assessing, preventing, and addressing pay differentials between women and men.
  • Guaranteeing equal access for women and men to civil service bodies, frameworks of employment, and grades.
  • Promoting the reconciliation of work and personal and family life.
  • Preventing and addressing discrimination, acts of violence, moral or sexual harassment, and sexist behaviour.

Appointment of Our Gender Equality Officers

Two gender equality officers have been appointed to raise awareness and inform staff about the challenges of gender equality within the Ministry of Armed Forces and the measures in place to promote equality in the workplace.

Our 'Féminisons les métiers de l'aéronautique' label

Since 2023, we have been contributing to the initiative launched in 2009 by the AIREMPLOI association, aimed at increasing gender diversity in the aerospace, air transportation, and airport sectors. In addition to having an active internal policy promoting equality between men and women, membership involves contributing to an observatory of equality between men and women in the aeronautics sector, sharing best practices between members and contributing to actions bearing the Féminisons label initiated by AIREMPLOI. The Féminisons label is supported by the professional federations of the aviation and aeronautics sectors, FNAM and GIFAS.

Our Fight Against the Menstrual Inequity of Our Learners

Since 2020, we have been working to combat the menstrual inequity of our learners by distributing washable menstrual protection kits twice a year and providing a number of free sanitary protection dispensers on campus.

The OSE INGé scheme provides personalised support for girls and scholarship-holders throughout their CPGE course to help them build their future plans and develop their ambitions.

We Welcome International Students

We offer around fifteen programmes taught entirely in English and welcome many international students who constitute over 40% of the student body.

Our 'Bienvenue en France' Label

We have been awarded the 'Bienvenue en France' 3-star label. This label distinguishes French higher education establishments that develop and promote welcome services for international students.

Our FLE Quality Label

In 2024, we renewed our French as a Foreign Language quality label with three stars (the highest rating) for a renewable four-year period.

Our Actions to Promote Social Diversity

Our Social Outreach Programme

Our equal opportunities programme OSE L'ISAE-SUPAERO, created in 2006 and awarded the Cordées de la Réussite label in 2009, aims to promote access to higher education for all by encouraging success through hard work.

Our programme is aimed at high school students from disadvantaged neighbourhoods and isolated rural areas who have distinguished themselves by their motivation. It helps them to build and succeed in an ambitious academic and professional project.

A Socially Responsible Purchasing Policy

At ISAE-SUPAERO, we have set ourselves the target of including 30% of social clauses in our public procurement contracts, in order to promote the integration of people who are far from employment and companies employing people with disabilities.
A partnership with Toulouse Métropole Emploi enables us to target contracts where social clauses are relevant.

Our Fight Against Harassment, Discrimination and Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (HDVS)

Since 2019, we have been rolling out a plan to combat harassment, discrimination, and sexist and sexual violence (HDVS), which includes in particular prevention initiatives aimed at staff and students.

Our plan also provides active reception and listening for victims and witnesses of situations relating to acts of HDVS, as well as a reporting system.

Our Reporting System

A reporting system is dedicated to victims and witnesses of sexual harassment, discrimination of all kinds, and sexual or gender-based violence within the Institute. People can report such incidents either via a reporting platform or to one of the HDVS units (comprised of students or staff).

www.isae-supaero.signalement.net is the reporting platform for the Institute's students and staff.

For victims or witnesses of a prejudicial situation, this alert platform allows information to be passed on at any time to the referents appointed by ISAE-SUPAERO, who are members of dedicated reporting units.

Further information

Our platform makes it possible to secure the reporting process within ISAE-SUPAERO. Its features include:

  • Accessibility from any web browser (computer, telephone, tablet, etc.);
  • Security and confidentiality within the platform;
  • Availability 24 hours a day, 7 days a week;

Arnaud Prost, ESA reserve astronaut and ISAE-SUPAERO alumnus: “I was incredibly lucky to be here”

Fighter pilot and reserve astronaut with the European Space Agency (ESA), Arnaud Prost returned to his former school on Thursday March 28 to meet 200 secondary school students as part of the ISAE SUPAERO OSE program. It was an opportunity for him to recall the “great memories” of his student experience at ISAE-SUPAERO, his long-standing commitment to the student social outreach program and the “Aquanauts” scheme he set up with OSE l'ISAE-SUPAERO. And in passing, he offers a few words of advice to young people who might dream of following in his footsteps: “Don't let yourself be convinced that one of these paths isn't for you!” A 2017 graduate of ISAE-SUPAERO, Arnaud Prost is among those selected for the ESA Astronaut Class of 2022, alongside Sophie Adenot and Anthea Comellini, both also alumni of the school. They join other illustrious ESA astronauts who have already studied at the school: Thomas Pesquet, Luca Parmitano and Samantha Cristoforetti. Since 1970, ISAE-SUPAERO has contributed to the progress of the space age through its training, research and innovation activities. As the only organization in France to offer degree courses (engineering, master's, specialized master's, doctorate) covering all 22 space-related themes identified by CNES, the Institute offers a royal road to space careers. “OSE Intégrer une Grande École” with the OSE InGÉ program, ISAE-SUPAERO's student social opening program for scientific CPGE students, in partnership with the ISAE-SUPAERO Foundation, ENAC - Ecole Nationale de l'Aviation Civile and the ENAC Foundation. The OSE InGÉ program provides personalized support for young girls and scholarship-holders throughout their preparatory classes for the Grandes Ecoles (CPGE), helping them to build their future plans and develop their ambitions. The stakes are threefold: the democratization of education linked to profound rather than structural transformations, the strengthening of #social openness in the grandes écoles and the engineering field, and the creation of an innovative scheme on the scale of an Occitanie region. Begun in 2022, the program was brought to life thanks to the collaboration of the teaching teams at three Toulouse high schools: Lycée Bellevue, Lycée Déodat de Séverac and Lycée Pierre de Fermat, the mobilization of ISAE-SUPAERO alumni and the support of our partners: the Conseil Régional de La Région Occitanie / Pyrénées-Méditerranée, Airbus, Elior Group and CREPS de Toulouse. It consists of : - customized mentoring: personalized, one-to-one support from a mentor who is an alumnus of the school, depending on availability and needs. An ISAE-SUPAERO alumnus provides support right up to the competitive entrance exams, offering his or her experience, support and listening skills to help answer questions and reinforce choices; - immersion courses to discover the campus of a Grande École, talk to former CPGE students and professionals with inspiring backgrounds, meet your mentor, consolidate your knowledge and learn how to better manage your CPGE years; - one-off events at partner high schools: an #orientation evening, testimonials from professionals, conferences, dinner/debates, training for #CPGE teachers on how to support vulnerable students. ISAE-SUPAERO's OSE 2024 restitution programme

Students supported by our OSE L'ISAE-SUPAERO program restituted their projects on May 30 at the Grand Marché MIN Toulouse Occitanie! 730 middle and high school students from 6ᵉ to terminale, supported under the social openness and cordée de la réussite program, closed a year of tutoring and projects with nearly 75 achievements presented. Every year, over 120 students from the Institute, the Université Paul Sabatier Toulouse III - UPSSITECH engineering school and the École nationale de la Météorologie volunteer to organize and take part in scientific and sports workshops, tutoring programs, visits and outings 🤸‍♀️ This year, a Commitment Award was symbolically presented at the Fondation ISAE-SUPAERO Scholarship Ceremony to all the students involved, via Jules Paindessous and Odile De La Rue, loyal volunteers who have been committed to the program since they joined the Institute. Bravo to them for their support!

Sylvestre Maurice presents the SUPERCAM / Martian Exploration educational kit

The ‘SUPERCAM - Martian Exploration’ educational kit project was initiated by five partners: ISAE-SUPAERO, the Toulouse Academy, CNRS, CNES and Cité de l'espace. Under the guidance and supervision of astrophysicist Sylvestre Maurice, first-year students at ISAE-SUPAERO developed this educational tool to raise awareness of space exploration in classrooms, from sixth form to final year. This kit is available to middle and high school teachers and can be adapted to offer educational lessons related to this theme.

Female students and scientists involved in the day

Female engineers, researchers and students from ISAE-SUPAERO were on hand to inform young students about engineering careers, encourage them to pursue their dreams, and address some of the obstacles they may encounter when making their career choices.

Ines Belgacem, patron of OSE at ISAE-SUPAERO and a scientist at the European Space Agency, recalls the primary objective of this event: ” The idea is not to push young women into science, whether they like it or not, but to provide them with all the information they need. Because we know that young girls are not as keen on science as boys, and that they don’t necessarily have access to information in the same way. For me, information is the key to everything “. She encourages them: ” Get as much information as you can, take advantage of all the opportunities, like Campus au féminin, so that whatever decision you make, it’s one you want to make and not one you have to make.

Angélique, a 2019 graduate of ISAE-SUPAERO and an engineer at Dassault Aviation, who also came along for the occasion, stresses the importance of raising awareness among young girls as early as possible: ” the fact that there aren’t many women in science courses starts very early, and it’s not so much at the recruitment stage that we can do something, or in higher education, but much earlier at secondary school when they choose science courses, where the gap is already widening at that point“.

Students at the heart of the organisation

Campus au féminin is also, and above all, the remarkable involvement of the Institute’s students, coordinated by the OSE programme team, in particular through the ISAElles student association, which encourages young women to take up science and deconstructs gender stereotypes.


Sascha Eydieu, a student and member of the ISAElles board, tells us about her role in organising the day: “I’m in charge of communicating with students, organising the various events and recruiting volunteers. In practical terms, this involves managing the planning and preparation for the day and organising meetings with the volunteers. I also take part in meetings with the ISAE-SUPAERO OSE team, to ensure that the various stages of the project are properly monitored.

A flagship event in ISAE-SUPAERO and its Foundation's commitment to equal opportunities

Launched in 2016, these days are the result of a collaboration between OSE the ISAE-SUPAERO and the ISAelles club. They reflect the commitment of the Institute, its equal opportunities programme and the Foundation to stepping up initiatives to encourage young girls to go into higher education and science courses.

This event is also part of a wider initiative: the “Campus au féminin” (“Campus for Women”) project, which involves a pair of female engineers and an ISAE-SUPAERO student mentoring groups of 10 secondary school girls. The main objective is to create a special link between secondary school pupils, students and women engineers.

Co-founder of the startup Viraj H2, created during his 3ᵉ year of engineering studies, Joseph Risson wants to contribute his expertise to the decarbonization of air travel by exploring a new hydrogen propulsion architecture! Sylvestre Maurice presents the SUPERCAM / Martian Exploration educational kit

The ‘SUPERCAM - Martian Exploration’ educational kit project was initiated by five partners: ISAE-SUPAERO, the Toulouse Academy, CNRS, CNES and Cité de l'espace. Under the guidance and supervision of astrophysicist Sylvestre Maurice, first-year students at ISAE-SUPAERO developed this educational tool to raise awareness of space exploration in classrooms, from sixth form to final year. Arnaud Prost, ESA reserve astronaut and ISAE-SUPAERO alumnus: “I was incredibly lucky to be here”

Fighter pilot and reserve astronaut with the European Space Agency (ESA), Arnaud Prost returned to his former school on Thursday March 28 to meet 200 secondary school students as part of the ISAE SUPAERO OSE program. It was an opportunity for him to recall the “great memories” of his student experience at ISAE-SUPAERO, his long-standing commitment to the student social outreach program and the “Aquanauts” scheme he set up with OSE l'ISAE-SUPAERO. And in passing, he offers a few words of advice to young people who might dream of following in his footsteps: “Don't let yourself be convinced that one of these paths isn't for you!” A 2017 graduate of ISAE-SUPAERO, Arnaud Prost is among those selected for the ESA Astronaut Class of 2022, alongside Sophie Adenot and Anthea Comellini, both also alumni of the school. They join other illustrious ESA astronauts who have already studied at the school: Thomas Pesquet, Luca Parmitano and Samantha Cristoforetti. Since 1970, ISAE-SUPAERO has contributed to the progress of the space age through its training, research and innovation activities. As the only organization in France to offer degree courses (engineering, master's, specialized master's, doctorate) covering all 22 space-related themes identified by CNES, the Institute offers a royal road to space careers. “OSE Intégrer une Grande École” with the OSE InGÉ program, ISAE-SUPAERO's student social opening program for scientific CPGE students, in partnership with the ISAE-SUPAERO Foundation, ENAC - Ecole Nationale de l'Aviation Civile and the ENAC Foundation. The OSE InGÉ program provides personalized support for young girls and scholarship-holders throughout their preparatory classes for the Grandes Ecoles (CPGE), helping them to build their future plans and develop their ambitions. The stakes are threefold: the democratization of education linked to profound rather than structural transformations, the strengthening of #social openness in the grandes écoles and the engineering field, and the creation of an innovative scheme on the scale of an Occitanie region. Begun in 2022, the program was brought to life thanks to the collaboration of the teaching teams at three Toulouse high schools: Lycée Bellevue, Lycée Déodat de Séverac and Lycée Pierre de Fermat, the mobilization of ISAE-SUPAERO alumni and the support of our partners: the Conseil Régional de La Région Occitanie / Pyrénées-Méditerranée, Airbus, Elior Group and CREPS de Toulouse. It consists of : - customized mentoring: personalized, one-to-one support from a mentor who is an alumnus of the school, depending on availability and needs. Created in 2006, the “OSE l’ISAE-SUPAERO” equal opportunities programme, awarded the Cordées de la Réussite label in 2009, aims to promote and encourage access to higher education (engineering, master’s, Advanced Master®, doctorate) for all by encouraging success through hard work.

The programme is aimed at secondary school students from priority neighbourhoods and isolated rural areas who have demonstrated outstanding motivation. It helps them to build and succeed in an ambitious academic and professional project.

The actions are carried out on a voluntary basis by students and alumni who initiate a wide range of educational activities based on their knowledge and skills.

This multi-faceted educational scheme helps to create synergies between secondary education, higher education and the professional world.

Actions throughout the year

All the activities are carried out throughout the school year by volunteer students from ISAE-SUPAERO, who each year initiate a wide range of educational activities using their knowledge and expertise!

Tutoring, local support

In the current climate, many young people need support with their schooling. The ISAE SUPAERO OSE programme offers weekly face-to-face tutoring sessions in 4 high schools in Toulouse.

From November to June, the students share their methodological tools and their scientific knowledge with around a hundred secondary school students from the second to the final year of high school, in the context of three-hour weekly sessions.

Long-distance tutoring is also offered to overcome the isolation of students from rural areas and those with reduced mobility.

In partnership with the higher education establishments that are members of the Midi-Pyrénées Social Opening Group (Groupe d’Ouverture Sociale Midi-Pyrénées) – INSA, IMT Mines Albi, INP Toulouse and ISAE-SUPAERO – there are two highlights during the school year.

Two Campus au féminin days are being organised in partnership with the ISAElles student club at ISAE-SUPAERO:

OSE INGÉ, our scheme for preparatory classes for the Grandes Écoles (CPGE) students

OSE InGÉ is ISAE-SUPAERO’s new Student Social Opening programme for students in the scientific CPGE.

The scheme provides personalised support for girls and scholarship-holders throughout their CPGE course to help them build their future plans and develop their ambitions.

The scheme has been running since 2022 thanks to:

  • the collaboration of the teaching teams at the partner lycées in the Académie de Toulouse: Lycée Bellevue, Lycée Déodat de Séverac and Lycée Pierre de Fermat in Toulouse, Lycée Jean Dupuy and Lycée Théophile Gautier in Tarbes, and Lycée Ferdinand Foch in Rodez;
  • the mobilisation of graduates and students from ISAE-SUPAERO and ENAC;
  • the support of our partners: the Occitanie Regional Council, the Occitanie Academy, the Dassault Systèmes Foundation, Airbus, Elior, the Occitanie Commissariat à la lutte contre la pauvreté, and the Toulouse CREPS.

Tailor-made mentoring

Students receive personalised, one-to-one support from an alumni mentor, depending on their availability and needs. They are supported right up to the competitive entrance exams by an alumnus of ISAE-SUPAERO or ENAC who, thanks to his or her experience, support and listening skills, helps them answer their questions and reinforce their choices.

Mentors receive training to help them provide the best possible support to CPGE students.

Immersion courses at ISAE-SUPAERO and ENAC

These internships are an opportunity to discover the campus of a Grande École, talk to former CPGE students and professionals with inspiring backgrounds, meet your mentor, consolidate your knowledge and learn how to manage your CPGE years more effectively.

Two immersion courses in 1ʳᵉ year:

One immersion during the autumn holidays devoted to:

  • Group cohesion;
  • Getting to know your mentor;
  • Meeting other students;
  • Reflecting on academic and professional projects;
  • Personal development workshops;
  • Exchanges with second-year CPGE students.

An immersion course during the spring holidays dedicated to:

  • Determining TIPE subjects;
  • Consolidating skills in non-scientific subjects;
  • Work on oral skills.
Two immersion courses in 2ᵉ year:

One immersion during the autumn holidays allows:

  • More in-depth preparation for competitive exam orals;
  • Finalisation of TIPE work;
  • A presentation by the CROUS on the assistance available;
  • Discussions with students about the competitive examinations;
  • Information from the CROUS on available grants.

A final immersion course in February to:

  • Enjoy a privileged working environment on the ISAE-SUPAERO and ENAC campuses.

6 partner schools in 2023-2024: Pierre de Fermat, Déodat de Séverac and Bellevue in Toulouse, Jean Dupuy and Théophile Gautier in Tarbes, Ferdinand Foch in Rodez.

A total of 91 pupils have been included in the scheme since September 2022:

  • 42 students supported, including 36 girls, all with grants, all in the first year of CPGE for 2022-2023;
  • A total of 79 students in 2023-2024: 30 in the second year from 2022 and 49 in the first year.
  • Support these students throughout their CPGE years and up to the competitive entrance exams.
  • Support students in developing their career plans and aspirations.
  • Help students gain a better understanding of the world of the Grandes Écoles, scientific careers and the world of engineering.
  • Helping students to develop and exploit their full potential.
  • Support from mentors for oral examinations.
  • Democratisation of education linked to profound rather than structural changes.
  • Greater social openness in the Grandes Écoles and the engineering field.

After working for several years at CNES, he became an airline pilot. In 2009, he was selected by ESA to train as an astronaut.

His first mission to the International Space Station took place in November 2016.

For me, getting involved with OSE l’ISAE SUPAERO is first and foremost about showing solidarity. I feel I’ve received a lot in life, because my parents and teachers gave me the greatest gift of all: education, and now it’s my turn to share it.

It’s important that everyone should have the same opportunities: girls and boys, from all backgrounds and origins, with disabilities or with difficulties at school. Everyone can make a contribution.

My role as a sponsor is first and foremost to tell the children that anything is possible, that you can achieve your dreams, and that even if you don’t achieve them, simply doing your best to try will inevitably get you somewhere.

I want to pass on to them my conviction that we shouldn’t be afraid of the future and that life in a country like ours is full of opportunities; the worst thing that could happen would be not to try, to seize them for lack of confidence or information.”

Ines Belgacem, Doctor of Planetology

Inès joined ISAE SUPAERO in 2012 after two years of preparatory classes in Physics and Chemistry.

She is currently a planetologist at ESA.

“Schemes like OSE are a particular opportunity for all the students they supervise to come into contact with a world to which they would not necessarily have access otherwise. OSE and, in particular, the dialogue with the students enable them to discover new things and to be supported in their projects in a spirit of openness, sharing and solidarity.

Sophie Adenot, astronaut at ESA

Sophie graduated from ISAE-SUPAERO in 2004.

She is a helicopter test pilot and now an ESA astronaut.

“My motivation for this commitment is to give a little boost of motivation: to all the young people who are still hesitating to embark on the adventure of aeronautics, to those who put barriers in their way before they have even tried, to those who have tried and who need a little more support, to those who, because they are disabled, think that the aeronautical community cannot offer them a small place.

My role as godmother is to talk to the young people and their teachers/mentors, to answer their questions, and to help them launch a career in science and aeronautics”.

Matthieu Ponin-Ballom, fighter pilot

Matthieu first joined the Ecole de l’Air in Salon de Provence, where he became a pilot.

In 2014, he graduated from ISAE SUPAERO. He is now studying at the war school in Lourdes.

“Every year, the OSE association sponsors hundreds of young people and encourages them not to set themselves limits that would be due to their origin, social condition or disability. ISAE-SUPAERO's OSE 2024 restitution programme

Students supported by our OSE L'ISAE-SUPAERO program restituted their projects on May 30 at the Grand Marché MIN Toulouse Occitanie! 730 middle and high school students from 6ᵉ to terminale, supported under the social openness and cordée de la réussite program, closed a year of tutoring and projects with nearly 75 achievements presented. Every year, over 120 students from the Institute, the Université Paul Sabatier Toulouse III - UPSSITECH engineering school and the École nationale de la Météorologie volunteer to organize and take part in scientific and sports workshops, tutoring programs, visits and outings 🤸‍♀️ This year, a Commitment Award was symbolically presented at the Fondation ISAE-SUPAERO Scholarship Ceremony to all the students involved, via Jules Paindessous and Odile De La Rue, loyal volunteers who have been committed to the program since they joined the Institute. Bravo to them for their support!

“OSE Intégrer une Grande École” with the OSE InGÉ program, ISAE-SUPAERO's student social opening program for scientific CPGE students, in partnership with the ISAE-SUPAERO Foundation, ENAC - Ecole Nationale de l'Aviation Civile and the ENAC Foundation. The OSE InGÉ program provides personalized support for young girls and scholarship-holders throughout their preparatory classes for the Grandes Ecoles (CPGE), helping them to build their future plans and develop their ambitions. The stakes are threefold: the democratization of education linked to profound rather than structural transformations, the strengthening of #social openness in the grandes écoles and the engineering field, and the creation of an innovative scheme on the scale of an Occitanie region. Begun in 2022, the program was brought to life thanks to the collaboration of the teaching teams at three Toulouse high schools: Lycée Bellevue, Lycée Déodat de Séverac and Lycée Pierre de Fermat, the mobilization of ISAE-SUPAERO alumni and the support of our partners: the Conseil Régional de La Région Occitanie / Pyrénées-Méditerranée, Airbus, Elior Group and CREPS de Toulouse. It consists of : - customized mentoring: personalized, one-to-one support from a mentor who is an alumnus of the school, depending on availability and needs. An ISAE-SUPAERO alumnus provides support right up to the competitive entrance exams, offering his or her experience, support and listening skills to help answer questions and reinforce choices; - immersion courses to discover the campus of a Grande École, talk to former CPGE students and professionals with inspiring backgrounds, meet your mentor, consolidate your knowledge and learn how to better manage your CPGE years; - one-off events at partner high schools: an #orientation evening, testimonials from professionals, conferences, dinner/debates, training for #CPGE teachers on how to support vulnerable students. Arnaud Prost, ESA reserve astronaut and ISAE-SUPAERO alumnus: “I was incredibly lucky to be here”

Fighter pilot and reserve astronaut with the European Space Agency (ESA), Arnaud Prost returned to his former school on Thursday March 28 to meet 200 secondary school students as part of the ISAE SUPAERO OSE program. It was an opportunity for him to recall the “great memories” of his student experience at ISAE-SUPAERO, his long-standing commitment to the student social outreach program and the “Aquanauts” scheme he set up with OSE l'ISAE-SUPAERO. And in passing, he offers a few words of advice to young people who might dream of following in his footsteps: “Don't let yourself be convinced that one of these paths isn't for you!” A 2017 graduate of ISAE-SUPAERO, Arnaud Prost is among those selected for the ESA Astronaut Class of 2022, alongside Sophie Adenot and Anthea Comellini, both also alumni of the school. They join other illustrious ESA astronauts who have already studied at the school: Thomas Pesquet, Luca Parmitano and Samantha Cristoforetti. Since 1970, ISAE-SUPAERO has contributed to the progress of the space age through its training, research and innovation activities. As the only organization in France to offer degree courses (engineering, master's, specialized master's, doctorate) covering all 22 space-related themes identified by CNES, the Institute offers a royal road to space careers. Sylvestre Maurice presents the SUPERCAM / Martian Exploration educational kit

The ‘SUPERCAM - Martian Exploration’ educational kit project was initiated by five partners: ISAE-SUPAERO, the Toulouse Academy, CNRS, CNES and Cité de l'espace. Under the guidance and supervision of astrophysicist Sylvestre Maurice, first-year students at ISAE-SUPAERO developed this educational tool to raise awareness of space exploration in classrooms, from sixth form to final year. This kit is available to middle and high school teachers and can be adapted to offer educational lessons related to this theme.

OSE InGÉ is ISAE-SUPAERO's Social Inclusion for Students programme. It provides personalised support to female students and scholarship recipients throughout their CPGE studies to help them build their future plans and develop their ambitions. Bertrand Joab-Cornu, co-founder of Wingly: "I already had the idea for a flight-sharing platform at ISAE-SUPAERO."

A graduate of the ISAE-SUPAERO engineering programme, Bertrand Joab-Cornu co-founded Wingly a year before graduating in 2015. This start-up, which brings aviation into the collaborative economy, quickly became the European leader in flight sharing.

Ça plane pour elles - OSE program ISAE-SUPAERO

“Ça plane pour elles”: a gliding discovery project run by students from the Institute as part of the ISAE-SUPAERO OSE program. Each year, 14 middle school girls and 14 high school girls are introduced to aeronautics through an educational program and a first flight at the Graulhet airfield.

Sylvestre Maurice presents the SUPERCAM / Martian Exploration educational kit

The ‘SUPERCAM - Martian Exploration’ educational kit project was initiated by five partners: ISAE-SUPAERO, the Toulouse Academy, CNRS, CNES and Cité de l'espace. Under the guidance and supervision of astrophysicist Sylvestre Maurice, first-year students at ISAE-SUPAERO developed this educational tool to raise awareness of space exploration in classrooms, from sixth form to final year. This kit is available to middle and high school teachers and can be adapted to offer educational lessons related to this theme.

The Foundation is working to consolidate ISAE-SUPAERO’s world leadership in the higher education of engineers and decision-makers in the aeronautics, space, defence, and security sectors, by integrating 4 major challenges:

  • the decarbonisation of the air transportation ecosystem and the development of alternative fuels;
  • the development of sustainable space activities;
  • increasing the use of digitalisation and AI in products and processes; and
  • developing safer, more sustainable systems.

In pursuit of this objective, the Foundation supports ISAE-SUPAERO, its students, professors and researchers, as well as society at large, by drawing on or stimulating the creation of initiatives in 3 areas with 6 fields of intervention.

The Fundraising Campaign for ISAE-SUPAERO

For our first fundraising campaign launched in 2011, ISAE-SUPAERO has reached the ambitious target of raising €20 million in 2018 to lead the Institute to the highest rank in the world in the field of aeronautics and space.

  • 1,037 individual donors, 49 corporate and institutional sponsors, 10 research/teaching chairs funded by sponsorship; and
  • 442 students, researchers, and PhDs supported through prizes or scholarships, 55 student or extracurricular projects supported, 18 entrepreneurial projects supported.

ISAE-SUPAERO's OSE 2024 restitution programme

Students supported by our OSE L'ISAE-SUPAERO program restituted their projects on May 30 at the Grand Marché MIN Toulouse Occitanie! 730 middle and high school students from 6ᵉ to terminale, supported under the social openness and cordée de la réussite program, closed a year of tutoring and projects with nearly 75 achievements presented. Every year, over 120 students from the Institute, the Université Paul Sabatier Toulouse III - UPSSITECH engineering school and the École nationale de la Météorologie volunteer to organize and take part in scientific and sports workshops, tutoring programs, visits and outings 🤸‍♀️ This year, a Commitment Award was symbolically presented at the Fondation ISAE-SUPAERO Scholarship Ceremony to all the students involved, via Jules Paindessous and Odile De La Rue, loyal volunteers who have been committed to the program since they joined the Institute. Bravo to them for their support!

An Illustrated History of our School

ISAE-SUPAERO was created in October 2007 from the merger of two engineering schools in Toulouse, the École Nationale Supérieure d'Ingénieurs de Constructions Aéronautiques (ENSICA) and the École Nationale Supérieure de l'Aéronautique et de l'Espace (SUPAERO), both under the supervision of the French Ministry of Defence.

Arnaud Prost, ESA reserve astronaut and ISAE-SUPAERO alumnus: “I was incredibly lucky to be here”

Fighter pilot and reserve astronaut with the European Space Agency (ESA), Arnaud Prost returned to his former school on Thursday March 28 to meet 200 secondary school students as part of the ISAE SUPAERO OSE program. It was an opportunity for him to recall the “great memories” of his student experience at ISAE-SUPAERO, his long-standing commitment to the student social outreach program and the “Aquanauts” scheme he set up with OSE l'ISAE-SUPAERO. And in passing, he offers a few words of advice to young people who might dream of following in his footsteps: “Don't let yourself be convinced that one of these paths isn't for you!” A 2017 graduate of ISAE-SUPAERO, Arnaud Prost is among those selected for the ESA Astronaut Class of 2022, alongside Sophie Adenot and Anthea Comellini, both also alumni of the school. They join other illustrious ESA astronauts who have already studied at the school: Thomas Pesquet, Luca Parmitano and Samantha Cristoforetti. Since 1970, ISAE-SUPAERO has contributed to the progress of the space age through its training, research and innovation activities. As the only organization in France to offer degree courses (engineering, master's, specialized master's, doctorate) covering all 22 space-related themes identified by CNES, the Institute offers a royal road to space careers. Discover our OSE InGÉ program

“OSE Intégrer une Grande École” with the OSE InGÉ program, ISAE-SUPAERO's student social opening program for scientific CPGE students, in partnership with the ISAE-SUPAERO Foundation, ENAC - Ecole Nationale de l'Aviation Civile and the ENAC Foundation. The OSE InGÉ program provides personalized support for young girls and scholarship-holders throughout their preparatory classes for the Grandes Ecoles (CPGE), helping them to build their future plans and develop their ambitions. The stakes are threefold: the democratization of education linked to profound rather than structural transformations, the strengthening of #social openness in the grandes écoles and the engineering field, and the creation of an innovative scheme on the scale of an Occitanie region. Begun in 2022, the program was brought to life thanks to the collaboration of the teaching teams at three Toulouse high schools: Lycée Bellevue, Lycée Déodat de Séverac and Lycée Pierre de Fermat, the mobilization of ISAE-SUPAERO alumni and the support of our partners: the Conseil Régional de La Région Occitanie / Pyrénées-Méditerranée, Airbus, Elior Group and CREPS de Toulouse. It consists of : - customized mentoring: personalized, one-to-one support from a mentor who is an alumnus of the school, depending on availability and needs. An ISAE-SUPAERO alumnus provides support right up to the competitive entrance exams, offering his or her experience, support and listening skills to help answer questions and reinforce choices; - immersion courses to discover the campus of a Grande École, talk to former CPGE students and professionals with inspiring backgrounds, meet your mentor, consolidate your knowledge and learn how to better manage your CPGE years; - one-off events at partner high schools: an #orientation evening, testimonials from professionals, conferences, dinner/debates, training for #CPGE teachers on how to support vulnerable students. Noémie Martin, E2018 engineer, receives €1 million prize from the Jean-Jacques and Félicia Lopez-Loreta Foundation for her FASTE project

The Jean-Jacques and Félicia Lopez-Loreta Foundation encourages the best young graduates from four Swiss and French schools of excellence by awarding an annual prize of one million euros to support innovative and highly promising academic or entrepreneurial research projects.

This year, Noémie Martin, an engineer from ISAE-SUPAERO (ENSICA) and currently a post-doctoral fellow at ETH Zurich, has been awarded the Lopez-Loreta prize for her FASTE project: Additive Manufacturing of High-Performance Multi-Material Structures for Use in Severe Environments!

After obtaining her engineering degree, Noémie Martin went on to do a PhD at the Institut Clément Ader, which she obtained in 2022 after submitting an excellent CIFRE thesis on the hybridisation of additive manufacturing processes (funded by Segula Technologie), co-directed by Anis Hor, associate professor in the Mechanics, Structures and Materials Department (DMSM) at ISAE-SUPAERO and Philippe Lours, professor at the Institut Clément Ader.

Her work has been published in A-ranked journals (3 articles) and presented at several conferences. Passionate about research and additive manufacturing, she decided to pursue the adventure abroad with a post-doctorate she is currently carrying out at ETH Zurich to develop a new process: ‘High Speed Laser Cladding’.

The FASTE project: revolutionising manufacturing, dimensioning and characterisation methods for multi-material and multi-function parts
Today’s environmental and economic challenges require optimisation of the product life cycle to reduce carbon emissions and limit energy consumption. High-performance metal alloys are both a cause and a solution. They are used in a wide range of sectors, including energy production, transport and construction, and their use helps to optimise the performance of these sectors (durability and efficiency of engines, for example). However, their extraction and production are costly and polluting.

"The use of several materials for a single mechanical part improves the performance of that part during use. This concept is particularly interesting when the part or structure is subjected to multiple stresses (mechanical, thermal, chemical, electromagnetic, etc.), as it enables the performance of each material used to be exploited to the full. This will lead to multi-function mechanical systems that are less complex and more environmentally friendly (lighter structures, no need for cooling circuits, longer service life, repairability). However, the manufacture of multi-material structures using conventional processes is often costly, if not impossible. What's more, the dimensions of such parts are not standardised".

The ETH Zurich laboratory, where Noémie Martin is working, will contribute its expertise in micro-structure control in additive manufacturing. ISAE-SUPAERO will also be contributing its skills and technological equipment in the field of materials characterisation.

Overcoming all the scientific and technological hurdles

Thanks to this prize, and the combined expertise and human and material resources available in the laboratories of the two institutes, Noémie Martin’s research project aims to overcome all the scientific hurdles associated with the manufacture of multi-material parts, the dimensioning of these heterogeneous structures and the implementation of experimental and numerical methods for the multi-scale characterisation of such structures.

“Ultimately, the results of this project will be transferable to the energy and aerospace industries, offering additional solutions to designers of structures operating in harsh environments, while meeting new economic and environmental requirements”.

Arnaud Prost, ESA reserve astronaut and ISAE-SUPAERO alumnus: “I was incredibly lucky to be here”

Fighter pilot and reserve astronaut with the European Space Agency (ESA), Arnaud Prost returned to his former school on Thursday March 28 to meet 200 secondary school students as part of the ISAE SUPAERO OSE program. It was an opportunity for him to recall the “great memories” of his student experience at ISAE-SUPAERO, his long-standing commitment to the student social outreach program and the “Aquanauts” scheme he set up with OSE l'ISAE-SUPAERO. And in passing, he offers a few words of advice to young people who might dream of following in his footsteps: “Don't let yourself be convinced that one of these paths isn't for you!” A 2017 graduate of ISAE-SUPAERO, Arnaud Prost is among those selected for the ESA Astronaut Class of 2022, alongside Sophie Adenot and Anthea Comellini, both also alumni of the school. They join other illustrious ESA astronauts who have already studied at the school: Thomas Pesquet, Luca Parmitano and Samantha Cristoforetti. Since 1970, ISAE-SUPAERO has contributed to the progress of the space age through its training, research and innovation activities. As the only organization in France to offer degree courses (engineering, master's, specialized master's, doctorate) covering all 22 space-related themes identified by CNES, the Institute offers a royal road to space careers. Sylvestre Maurice presents the SUPERCAM / Martian Exploration educational kit

The ‘SUPERCAM - Martian Exploration’ educational kit project was initiated by five partners: ISAE-SUPAERO, the Toulouse Academy, CNRS, CNES and Cité de l'espace. Under the guidance and supervision of astrophysicist Sylvestre Maurice, first-year students at ISAE-SUPAERO developed this educational tool to raise awareness of space exploration in classrooms, from sixth form to final year. This kit is available to middle and high school teachers and can be adapted to offer educational lessons related to this theme.

Orbit Your Thesis: ISAE-SUPAERO in zero gravity with the AIM experiment

Artery In Microgravity (#AIM), the first student scientific experiment designed and developed in collaboration since 2018 by ISAE-SUPAERO and Polytechnique Turin, was launched on 23 November 2022 by Space X's Dragon cargo ship to the International Space Station (ISS)! “OSE Intégrer une Grande École” with the OSE InGÉ program, ISAE-SUPAERO's student social opening program for scientific CPGE students, in partnership with the ISAE-SUPAERO Foundation, ENAC - Ecole Nationale de l'Aviation Civile and the ENAC Foundation. The OSE InGÉ program provides personalized support for young girls and scholarship-holders throughout their preparatory classes for the Grandes Ecoles (CPGE), helping them to build their future plans and develop their ambitions. The stakes are threefold: the democratization of education linked to profound rather than structural transformations, the strengthening of #social openness in the grandes écoles and the engineering field, and the creation of an innovative scheme on the scale of an Occitanie region. Begun in 2022, the program was brought to life thanks to the collaboration of the teaching teams at three Toulouse high schools: Lycée Bellevue, Lycée Déodat de Séverac and Lycée Pierre de Fermat, the mobilization of ISAE-SUPAERO alumni and the support of our partners: the Conseil Régional de La Région Occitanie / Pyrénées-Méditerranée, Airbus, Elior Group and CREPS de Toulouse. It consists of : - customized mentoring: personalized, one-to-one support from a mentor who is an alumnus of the school, depending on availability and needs. An ISAE-SUPAERO alumnus provides support right up to the competitive entrance exams, offering his or her experience, support and listening skills to help answer questions and reinforce choices; - immersion courses to discover the campus of a Grande École, talk to former CPGE students and professionals with inspiring backgrounds, meet your mentor, consolidate your knowledge and learn how to better manage your CPGE years; - one-off events at partner high schools: an #orientation evening, testimonials from professionals, conferences, dinner/debates, training for #CPGE teachers on how to support vulnerable students. Arnaud Prost, ESA reserve astronaut and ISAE-SUPAERO alumnus: “I was incredibly lucky to be here”

Fighter pilot and reserve astronaut with the European Space Agency (ESA), Arnaud Prost returned to his former school on Thursday March 28 to meet 200 secondary school students as part of the ISAE SUPAERO OSE program. It was an opportunity for him to recall the “great memories” of his student experience at ISAE-SUPAERO, his long-standing commitment to the student social outreach program and the “Aquanauts” scheme he set up with OSE l'ISAE-SUPAERO. And in passing, he offers a few words of advice to young people who might dream of following in his footsteps: “Don't let yourself be convinced that one of these paths isn't for you!” A 2017 graduate of ISAE-SUPAERO, Arnaud Prost is among those selected for the ESA Astronaut Class of 2022, alongside Sophie Adenot and Anthea Comellini, both also alumni of the school. They join other illustrious ESA astronauts who have already studied at the school: Thomas Pesquet, Luca Parmitano and Samantha Cristoforetti. Since 1970, ISAE-SUPAERO has contributed to the progress of the space age through its training, research and innovation activities. As the only organization in France to offer degree courses (engineering, master's, specialized master's, doctorate) covering all 22 space-related themes identified by CNES, the Institute offers a royal road to space careers. Sylvestre Maurice presents the SUPERCAM / Martian Exploration educational kit

The ‘SUPERCAM - Martian Exploration’ educational kit project was initiated by five partners: ISAE-SUPAERO, the Toulouse Academy, CNRS, CNES and Cité de l'espace. Under the guidance and supervision of astrophysicist Sylvestre Maurice, first-year students at ISAE-SUPAERO developed this educational tool to raise awareness of space exploration in classrooms, from sixth form to final year. This kit is available to middle and high school teachers and can be adapted to offer educational lessons related to this theme.

Meeting with Bertrand Joab-Cornu

You co-founded the start-up Wingly while you were still a student at ISAE-SUPAERO. Tell us about this entrepreneurial adventure...

I studied engineering at ISAE-SUPAERO, graduating in 2016. Passionate about aeronautics and entrepreneurship, I took a double-diploma with École Polytechnique in Innovation Technology and Entrepreneurship. At the time, the collaborative economy was exploding with start-ups like BlaBlaCar and Airbnb. On the benches of ISAE-SUPAERO, I already had the idea of a co-piloting platform based on the same principle. At X I met my future partner, Emeric de Waziers, who had also had the idea on his own, and we launched Wingly in 2015. There was a niche to be filled and it worked really, really well!

Wingly is 10 years old and this year marks an important stage in its development. Can you tell us more about it?

We have been able to cope with the crises of recent years and the company is doing well. There are currently 25,000 private pilots registered on the platform, with more than 120,000 passengers in flight. We have also just passed the €40 million mark in sales volume. This year, we opened up to low-carbon aviation through partnerships with seven flying clubs that own an electric aircraft. We also closed a €3.5m fund-raising round with the aim of achieving profitability by 2025 and embarking on new projects. We also opened up our capital through a crowdfunding campaign on the Crowdcube platform, to get our community involved.

Wingly, the BlaBlaCar of the skies.
Europe’s leading flight-sharing platform, Wingly offers shared-cost flights between a private pilot and one or more passengers. 450,000 members are registered on this digital platform. The Paris-based company employs 20 people and offers its services in several European countries, including Germany, the UK, Switzerland, Austria and France.

What is the medium-term outlook?

Currently, use of the platform is focused on leisure flights: 90% of our passengers take local trips and the remaining 10% take day trips. But Wingly has a real role to play in regional mobility, where there is no alternative to the car, especially as companies developing low-carbon aviation are positioning themselves in this niche. We also hope to launch in other countries, notably the United States, if regulations change.

What advice would you give to ISAE-SUPAERO students who would like to become entrepreneurs during their studies as you did?

The first piece of advice I would give is to trust yourself and your idea! And then go out and test it, without wasting too much time working out the perfect business plan or a finished prototype.

Final-year engineering apprentice, specializing in Industrialisation and Methods for Aeronautics and Space, Alexandre Bouraoui was recently honored at the 76th International Astronautical Congress (IAC 2025) in Sydney, where he won the prestigious Hermann Oberth Gold Medal in the Graduate category. Arnaud Prost, ESA reserve astronaut and ISAE-SUPAERO alumnus: “I was incredibly lucky to be here”

Fighter pilot and reserve astronaut with the European Space Agency (ESA), Arnaud Prost returned to his former school on Thursday March 28 to meet 200 secondary school students as part of the ISAE SUPAERO OSE program. It was an opportunity for him to recall the “great memories” of his student experience at ISAE-SUPAERO, his long-standing commitment to the student social outreach program and the “Aquanauts” scheme he set up with OSE l'ISAE-SUPAERO. And in passing, he offers a few words of advice to young people who might dream of following in his footsteps: “Don't let yourself be convinced that one of these paths isn't for you!” A 2017 graduate of ISAE-SUPAERO, Arnaud Prost is among those selected for the ESA Astronaut Class of 2022, alongside Sophie Adenot and Anthea Comellini, both also alumni of the school. They join other illustrious ESA astronauts who have already studied at the school: Thomas Pesquet, Luca Parmitano and Samantha Cristoforetti. Since 1970, ISAE-SUPAERO has contributed to the progress of the space age through its training, research and innovation activities. As the only organization in France to offer degree courses (engineering, master's, specialized master's, doctorate) covering all 22 space-related themes identified by CNES, the Institute offers a royal road to space careers. ISAE-SUPAERO's OSE 2024 restitution programme

Students supported by our OSE L'ISAE-SUPAERO program restituted their projects on May 30 at the Grand Marché MIN Toulouse Occitanie! 730 middle and high school students from 6ᵉ to terminale, supported under the social openness and cordée de la réussite program, closed a year of tutoring and projects with nearly 75 achievements presented. Every year, over 120 students from the Institute, the Université Paul Sabatier Toulouse III - UPSSITECH engineering school and the École nationale de la Météorologie volunteer to organize and take part in scientific and sports workshops, tutoring programs, visits and outings 🤸‍♀️ This year, a Commitment Award was symbolically presented at the Fondation ISAE-SUPAERO Scholarship Ceremony to all the students involved, via Jules Paindessous and Odile De La Rue, loyal volunteers who have been committed to the program since they joined the Institute. Bravo to them for their support!

“OSE Intégrer une Grande École” with the OSE InGÉ program, ISAE-SUPAERO's student social opening program for scientific CPGE students, in partnership with the ISAE-SUPAERO Foundation, ENAC - Ecole Nationale de l'Aviation Civile and the ENAC Foundation. The OSE InGÉ program provides personalized support for young girls and scholarship-holders throughout their preparatory classes for the Grandes Ecoles (CPGE), helping them to build their future plans and develop their ambitions. The stakes are threefold: the democratization of education linked to profound rather than structural transformations, the strengthening of #social openness in the grandes écoles and the engineering field, and the creation of an innovative scheme on the scale of an Occitanie region. Begun in 2022, the program was brought to life thanks to the collaboration of the teaching teams at three Toulouse high schools: Lycée Bellevue, Lycée Déodat de Séverac and Lycée Pierre de Fermat, the mobilization of ISAE-SUPAERO alumni and the support of our partners: the Conseil Régional de La Région Occitanie / Pyrénées-Méditerranée, Airbus, Elior Group and CREPS de Toulouse. It consists of : - customized mentoring: personalized, one-to-one support from a mentor who is an alumnus of the school, depending on availability and needs. An ISAE-SUPAERO alumnus provides support right up to the competitive entrance exams, offering his or her experience, support and listening skills to help answer questions and reinforce choices; - immersion courses to discover the campus of a Grande École, talk to former CPGE students and professionals with inspiring backgrounds, meet your mentor, consolidate your knowledge and learn how to better manage your CPGE years; - one-off events at partner high schools: an #orientation evening, testimonials from professionals, conferences, dinner/debates, training for #CPGE teachers on how to support vulnerable students. Feedback: a Latecoere engineer in the ISAE-SUPAERO laboratories

To strengthen the links between industry and research, more than 10 industrial R&D engineers have been made available to ISAE-SUPAERO as part of the France Relance plan! Cyril Geneste, research engineer at Latecoere, is one of them. Together with Miguel Charlotte, Associate Professor at the Institute, he looks back on this fruitful two-year collaboration. Their work, carried out in the ISAE-SUPAERO laboratories, focused on the behavior of aircraft door seals, which ensure cabin airtightness. Thanks to the Institute's cutting-edge equipment and academic expertise, Cyril Geneste was able in particular to carry out numerical modeling of seals in order to test their behavior. Students in their 3rdᵉ year of engineering studies were also involved in this work.

Aircraft design is inherently multidisciplinary. Sylvestre Maurice presents the SUPERCAM / Martian Exploration educational kit

The ‘SUPERCAM - Martian Exploration’ educational kit project was initiated by five partners: ISAE-SUPAERO, the Toulouse Academy, CNRS, CNES and Cité de l'espace. Under the guidance and supervision of astrophysicist Sylvestre Maurice, first-year students at ISAE-SUPAERO developed this educational tool to raise awareness of space exploration in classrooms, from sixth form to final year. This kit is available to middle and high school teachers and can be adapted to offer educational lessons related to this theme.

From classroom to cockpit: flying activities at ISAE-SUPAERO

Take a video tour of the school's Lasbordes Air Operations Center (COAL). With a fleet of 9 light aircraft, the COAL offers 3 types of activities: - Pilot training to obtain the Private Pilot's License (PPL), which enables students to fly single-engine aircraft. - Practical work directly linked to the school's teaching programs, from flight mechanics to an introduction to flight test techniques for continuing education. - Research into human factors and pilot cognitive mechanisms in real time during flight. At ISAE-SUPAERO, engineering and Master's students are lucky enough to be able to take their pilot's license just a few kilometers from the campus. Several instructors accompany them and train them to fly. All are members of the Aerospace Vehicle Design and Operation Research Department, headed by Valérie Budinger.

Meeting with Joseph Risson, engineering student and winner of a scholarship for his Viraj H2 project

On Friday, 8 December, the Swiss Jean-Jacques and Felicia Lopez-Loreta Foundation for Academic Excellence awarded a prize to Viraj H2, a project developed at ISAE-SUPAERO. Joseph Risson, a third-year engineering student, is studying a hybridisation between a hydrogen turboprop engine and a fuel cell in order to accelerate the decarbonisation of air transport. The €1 million grant will enable Joseph and his partner Paul de Goÿs to validate the technology behind their innovation.

"Défi Aérospatial Étudiant 2025": Dassault Aviation Prize awarded to an ISAE-SUPAERO student team

As part of the integrated team project of the Institute's TAS ASTRO master's program, a team of student engineers developed the OSIRIS space shuttle, taking part in the Student Aerospace Challenge, an international competition. The team was awarded the Dassault Aviation Prize for the technical quality of its project.
