His career before ISAE-SUPAERO

What was your academic background before joining ISAE-SUPAERO?

2019-2021: CPGE PCSI-PSI
2021-2024: IPSA Toulouse, specialising in energy and motorisation
2022: Semester at the international California State University of Long Beach

Did you already have professional experience before the Advanced Master®?

June – Aug 2023: Engine technician internship with SDTS
Sept 2023 – Feb 2024: Master’s thesis on the development of a thermoelectric turbojet engine with the start-up Sylphaero
Apr – Aug 2024: Industrial project manager internship with Mécachrome

Why did you choose ISAE-SUPAERO for your SAdvanced Master®?

I chose ISAE-SUPAERO for its excellence in the aerospace field and for the quality of its training. This Advanced Master® enabled me to acquire solid skills for my future career. Finally, the collaboration with ENAC and the École de l’Air et de l’Espace, as well as the proximity to the Toulouse area, were real assets in taking advantage of opportunities in the aerospace sector.

How did you hear about our Advanced Master® programme?

Through the ISAE-SUPAERO website and teacher recommendations.

His career at ISAE-SUPAERO

What specific skills or knowledge have you come to acquire in this MS?

In this Advanced Master®, my aim was to deepen my knowledge of project management on a global scale, to complement my engineering background, which was more focused on technical aspects. I was thus able to enrich my skills tree by integrating management, coordination and strategic approaches, which are essential for successfully completing complex projects in the aerospace sector.

What subjects, projects, challenges or experiences have particularly impressed you during your training?

The Fil Rouge project was a particularly memorable experience during my training. Throughout the year, it was a stimulating and rewarding exercise, offering the opportunity to put into practice the theoretical skills covered in class. This project enabled me to develop essential project management skills while at the same time confronting this knowledge with concrete problems.

In your opinion, what are the main advantages of the MS that you have followed?

The main advantages of the Advanced Master® that I took are the unique opportunity to study at three renowned grandes écoles: ISAE-SUPAERO, ENAC and the École de l’Air et de l’Espace. This inter-school collaboration provides access to academic excellence and a multidisciplinary approach. In addition, regular presentations by professionals from the aeronautics sector provide a valuable perspective on current industry issues. Finally, the Fil Rouge project offered throughout the year, which is directly linked to the courses, enables students to put into practice the knowledge they have acquired and develop practical skills tailored to the demands of the market.

Describe an outstanding experience or project that you carried out during your MS.

One of the highlights of my Advanced Master® was a month’s training at the École de l’Air. This period was a real opportunity to discover and immerse myself in the military world, familiarising myself with its challenges, rigour and processes. It was a key moment for better understanding the importance of project management in a demanding and structured environment, and it enriched my vision of the military aerospace sector, particularly in terms of leadership and teamwork.

How would you describe student life at ISAE-SUPAERO?

Student life at ISAE-SUPAERO is very pleasant. The campus offers many modern facilities, conducive to work and concentration. In addition, the on-site canteen and high-quality sports facilities are real assets, allowing students to eat well and maintain a balance between studies and physical activities. This helps to create a stimulating working environment and a pleasant living environment for students.

His career plan

What are your career plans?

My current career plan is to join the armed forces. I am currently applying to join the French Navy.

How will your Advanced Master® prepare you to achieve these goals?

This Advanced Master® prepares me directly for my professional goals by offering me a solid immersion in the military world, thanks in particular to the courses given by the Air and Space School. What’s more, the programme gave me essential skills in team and project management, which are vital if I am to succeed in the French Navy and in a demanding military environment.

Have you completed a work placement or assignment as part of your MS?

Yes, I’m currently doing an internship with Alten in Toulouse. I’m a PMO/Project Manager trainee, and this placement is completely in line with all the courses I’ve taken and is a real continuation of the MS.

His advice

What would you say to a future student who is hesitating about joining an ISAE-SUPAERO Advanced Master®?

Joining an ISAE-SUPAERO Advanced Master® programme is a real academic opportunity. In addition to the technical and managerial skills acquired, this programme offers the advantage of building a solid network thanks to the many people involved in the sector. This network can be a real springboard for starting a career, offering connections with renowned professionals and companies, opening up interesting prospects for the future.

Any advice for a successful Specialised Masters® at ISAE-SUPAERO?

To succeed in your Advanced Master® at ISAE-SUPAERO, you need to stay organised, be proactive and take advantage of the school’s resources and opportunities. Managing your time efficiently and interacting with lecturers and students are essential to maximising the experience.

"ISAE-SUPAERO has enabled me to build solid foundations to successfully navigate the professional world."

If you had to sum up your experience in one word, three adjectives or one sentence?

Stimulating, formative, revealing.

Fighter pilot and reserve astronaut with the European Space Agency (ESA), Arnaud Prost returned to his former school on Thursday March 28 to meet 200 secondary school students as part of the ISAE SUPAERO OSE program. It was an opportunity for him to recall the “great memories” of his student experience at ISAE-SUPAERO, his long-standing commitment to the student social outreach program and the “Aquanauts” scheme he set up with OSE l'ISAE-SUPAERO. 3 questions to Marie Delaroche, 3ᵉ year student and MDRS 293 crew commander

Since February 18, seven ISAE-SUPAERO engineering students have been living a simulated Martian life and carrying out experiments in collaboration with CNES and several research laboratories at The Mars Society's Mars Desert Research Station (MDRS) in UTAH (USA)! For the second time, the mission is led by a woman: Marie Delaroche, a passionate #spaceexplorer, who was already part of crew 275 departing in 2023. We asked her 3 questions to find out more about the challenges of this mission and her feelings as #flightcommander! Alongside her, three young women and three young men in their 2ᵉ year of #engineering studies have taken on the roles of astronomer, scientist, botanist, journalist, health worker and onboard engineer. They are all members of the Mars Club ISAE-SUPAERO, a student association for the popularization of science focused on the Red Planet and the missions dedicated to its exploration and study. They are currently experimenting with AI4U, the artificial intelligence that assists astronauts in their daily tasks (environmental measurements, voice recognition, emergency exercises). They are also conducting a science popularization experiment in collaboration with secondary school pupils. Inspired by the film The Martian, in which an astronaut grows potatoes on the Red Planet, the aim of this experiment is to compare plant growth in Martian soil with growth in terrestrial soil!
