3 questions to Marie Delaroche, 3ᵉ year student and MDRS 293 crew commander

Since February 18, seven ISAE-SUPAERO engineering students have been living a simulated Martian life and carrying out experiments in collaboration with CNES and several research laboratories at The Mars Society's Mars Desert Research Station (MDRS) in UTAH (USA)! For the second time, the mission is led by a woman: Marie Delaroche, a passionate #spaceexplorer, who was already part of crew 275 departing in 2023. We asked her 3 questions to find out more about the challenges of this mission and her feelings as #flightcommander! Alongside her, three young women and three young men in their 2ᵉ year of #engineering studies have taken on the roles of astronomer, scientist, botanist, journalist, health worker and onboard engineer. They are all members of the Mars Club ISAE-SUPAERO, a student association for the popularization of science focused on the Red Planet and the missions dedicated to its exploration and study. They are currently experimenting with AI4U, the artificial intelligence that assists astronauts in their daily tasks (environmental measurements, voice recognition, emergency exercises). They are also conducting a science popularization experiment in collaboration with secondary school pupils. Inspired by the film The Martian, in which an astronaut grows potatoes on the Red Planet, the aim of this experiment is to compare plant growth in Martian soil with growth in terrestrial soil! ISAE SUPAERO ENSICA Alumni Association

Last Updated On

ISAE SUPAERO ENSICA Alumni is much more than a network of graduates: it's a close-knit, committed and proactive community, driven by a spirit of mutual aid and sharing at the service of society.

A Committed and Supportive Network

Created in 1911 by the first engineers to graduate from Sup’Aéro, the Amicale des anciens élèves de l’Institut supérieur de l’aéronautique et de l’espace, today known as ISAE-SUPAERO ENSICA Alumni, is an association recognised as being in the public interest.

With nearly 30,000 graduates from ISAE-SUPAERO and its founding schools (Sup’Aéro and ENSICA), it stands for its values of solidarity, conviviality, benevolence, and responsibility.

Nicolas Marson

ISAE-SUPAERO ENSICA Alumni works passionately to bring together and animate the alumni network on both a personal and professional level. It relies on the commitment of its members to promote ISAE-SUPAERO and the aerospace sector on a national and international scale.

Nicolas Marson President of ISAE-SUPAERO ENSICA Alumni

Ambitious and Essential Missions

The association plays a key role in:

  • maintaining links between alumni by:
    • managing and updating a rich and dynamic database;
    • informing members of news from the network and the Institute; and
    • providing support to fellow alumni in difficulty.
  • supporting alumni initiatives and projects by:
    • supporting students and encouraging intergenerational interactions; and
    • strengthening the cohesion between classes and thematic groups.
  • promoting the professional development of alumni by:
    • offering services and resources adapted to each stage of their careers; and
    • collaborate with the Institute and the ISAE-SUPAERO Foundation to contribute to their influence and that of the aeronautics and space sector.

A Collective Dynamic Driven By Members

The Association thrives on the energy of its volunteers and the membership fees of its members!

Every contribution, whether in the form of a donation, volunteer work, or regular profile updates, strengthens the network and guarantees its effectiveness.

By joining this exceptional community, every student and graduate becomes a key player in the development and success of a unique network, both in France and internationally.

Your Support is Essential If We Are to Build a Stronger, More Recognised Network!

Membership fees are an essential resource for the Association, enabling it to fulfil its missions.

Student Life Highlights

Clubs and Associations

At ISAE-SUPAERO, all passions can coexist!

Student associations, such as the student, arts, and sports associationsJunior Entreprise, Raid ISAE, the EAG and Airexpo, to name but a few, are real driving forces behind this dynamic.

These groups foster creativity, civic engagement, and the emergence of innovative projects, while reflecting the fundamental values of our Institute.

The Students' Association

The Student Association (SA) is mainly made up of technical clubs and clubs dedicated to student initiatives (humanitarian or entrepreneurship projects, and more).

Some clubs operate independently in terms of size and budget, such as the gala, Airexpo, or Supaero Junior Conseil, the Institute's Junior Entreprise.

The Arts Association

The Arts Association (AA) brings together clubs focusing on the performing arts, audiovisuals, music, crafting activities, and the culinary arts.

The ISAE-SUPAERO AA offers a multitude of opportunities to express your passions or discover new ones!

The Sports Association

The Sports association (AS) brings together all the clubs involved in team or individual sports (football, handball, swimming, etc.), as well as more extreme sports (surfing, sailing, canyoning, etc.) and aeronautical sports (gliding, parachuting, microlighting, etc.)!

Aeronautical Activities

The ISAE-SUPAERO flight operations centre, located at Lasbordes Aerodrome, has a fleet of 8 light aircraft for teaching and research in the fields of flight mechanics and neuroergonomics.

1 Vulcanair P68, 3 Robin DR 400 and 4 Aquila are available to provide in-flight teaching services for students and continuing education courses (discovery of the aerial environment, illustration of lessons, practical work, introductory research projects, human factors, etc.).

The Institute encourages students to learn to fly by helping them to obtain licences and certificates in various disciplines (powered flight, gliding, parachuting, paragliding, ULM, etc.).

ISAE-SUPAERO provides in-house training in powered flight, an optional teaching module integrated into the engineering and masters courses. Approximately 35 students enroll in the flight training course each year.

Other activities are outsourced to specialist external organisations via the student association.

Students can also take part in aeronautical activities such as the manufacture of micro-drones or model aircraft.
