RANKING OF THE GRANDES ÉCOLES MOST COMMITTED TO THE ECOLOGICAL TRANSITION: ISAE-SUPAERO IN 2ND PLACE!

The ChangeNOW/Les Echos START ranking, which promotes the consideration of schools’ environmental and social issues, alongside traditional criteria of excellence, is back.
The actions carried out this year by the Institute were rewarded with a 2nd place in the overall ranking!
ISAE-SUPAERO ON THE PODIUM
58 institutions participated this year in the ChangeNOW/Les Echos START ranking, compared to 47 last year.
With many actions and initiatives in terms of sustainable development and energy renovation in particular, ISAE-SUPAERO is ranked 2nd. The Institute recognizes the ecological and energy transition as an essential requirement for all our societies to cope with global warming.
"All our students are trained in the Climate Fresk. Since 2015, we have been offering a certificate in environmental engineering as part of the "aircraft eco-design" chair. We also offer 15 different modules on environmental issues, including energy or the circular economy. We also offer a course on climate and aviation, in partnership with Météo-France. Several projects to improve and complement our courses are underway, such as the creation of a master’s degree specialized in the transition of the aviation sector", explains Emilie Tota, Deputy Director General of the Institute, who was interviewed as part of this ranking.
WHAT WE CAN SAY, AS AERONAUTICAL ENGINEERS, IS THAT WHILE THE TECHNOLOGICAL AND INDUSTRIAL CHALLENGE IS MAJOR, IT IS QUITE COMMENSURATE WITH THOSE THAT OUR PREDECESSORS TOOK UP. WE NOW HAVE 30 YEARS TO DECARBONIZE AIR TRAVEL, AND IF HISTORY IS ANY GUIDE, IT SHOULD MAKE US OPTIMISTIC ABOUT OUR ABILITY TO DO SO.
ISAE-SUPAERO IS COMMITTED TO SUSTAINABILITY
ISAE-SUPAERO places environmental issues at the heart of its commitment with the deployment of its HORIZONS strategy. The Institute is thus harnessing its teaching skills and scientific expertise to help build the aeronautical and space components of this sustainable society and in particular to invent the decarbonized air transport of tomorrow.
Its teacher-researchers, its students and all its staff pursue the same objective to meet the challenge of ecological transition: to build, with all stakeholders, a sustainable society.
ISAE-SUPAERO PUBLISHES ITS AVIATION AND CLIMATE REPOSITORY
In September 2021, the Institute published the ISAE-SUPAERO Aviation and Climate repository, which aims to provide scientific elements useful for understanding aviation and climate issues. This work was subjected to a specific review process, involving both ISAE-SUPAERO staff and external researchers from different institutes.
