Space for All: ISAE-SUPAERO was at the IAC congress!

Available online :

From September 18 to 22, more than 9,300 visitors and 250 exhibitors, including ISAE-SUPAERO, took part in the biggest meeting of the profession: the IAC - International Astronautical Congress!

During five days, the Institute occupied the space scene through many themes to present its training offer to professionals and students during the "general public" day, but not only!

We were also there to :

Weaving partnerships

  • Bringing together on the same site the entire space industry, the IAC was an opportunity to establish partnerships with industrialists & institutions.
  • The official launch of the ESA Lab took place on the Institute’s stand.
  • An official meeting was organized between our President, Olivier Lesbre, and the Director General of ESA, the European Space Agency, Mr. Josef Aschbacher, who discussed future collaborations for a sustainable and responsible exploration.

This initiative aims to facilitate exchanges between ESA and ISAE-SUPAERO on research aspects (provision of ESA experts, data, results, test facilities ...) and teaching aspects (sending vacancies, student projects ...)

  • Many other meetings took place, especially with the alumni, who were numerous at the event, who were able to exchange, share their experience and meet our students and their teachers!

Inform ourselves about the space market

  • Thanks to the program of conferences, debates, and the offer of stands, ISAE-SUPAERO was able to update its knowledge on the state of the sector, the new trends and to fill up with information.
  • Our researchers-teachers took part in numerous technical sessions and debates, were able to enrich their network and show the wealth of knowledge they provide at the institute.
  • The students, throughout these five days, also had the opportunity to get informed, to meet the international actors of the sector and to present their articles in front of a very high level international audience.

Present the richness of our student clubs

  • The Club Mars and the upcoming MDRS Crew 275 mission were able to receive great advice, develop partnerships and find sponsors.
  • Our OBELIX team students won the CNES #MoveOnTheMoon competition with their rover.
  • The TOLOSAT team had the opportunity to exhibit their gravimetry mission, which consists in recreating the Earth’s geoid using low-cost components: a student example of an Earth observation mission.
  • Finally, the Supaero space club and its delegation presented their innovative Æther project. They took the opportunity to come to the congress to talk about their ambitious goal: to create a 100% #MadeInSupaero hybrid propulsion engine capable of propelling a supersonic rocket.

It was also an opportunity to strengthen the ties between the teams around this unifying event!
