“MARIE MARVINGT AVIATION LIBRARY”: ISAE-SUPAERO UNVEILS ITS LEARNING CENTER
Available online :
On 4 October ISAE-SUPAERO inaugurated its Learning Center, named the “Marie Marvingt Aviation Library” in memory of this distinguished aviation and sports pioneer who was the most decorated woman in French history.
With a surface area of over 2,700 m2, this new space, packed with innovative equipment, will be a real venue for sharing and working in line with the new working methods of its users.
MARIE MARVINGT, A SOURCE OF INSPIRATION
Olivier Lesbre, Managing Director of ISAE-SUPAERO, proudly announced the opening of the “Marie Marvingt Aviation Library” when inaugurating the new building on the Institute’s campus: “Marie Marvingt had so much talent she would probably feel completely at home on our campus if she could be here right now".
A CENTER OF INNOVATIVE IN THE HEART OF THE CAMPUS
Open-ended and scalable, the Aviation Library offers collaborative workrooms as well as a flexible open space to host workshops or scientific and cultural meetings. A program of events (scientific conferences, music, theater, etc.) is scheduled starting in January 2023.
Upstairs, there is a reading room, work rooms and two cozy spaces fitted out with digital and multimedia equipment. There is also a modular training space that is fully in line with ISAE-SUPAERO’s innovation strategy.
The documentary collection has more than 55,000 books, a unique collection in France of books dedicated to aerospace. The historical heritage and archives of ISAE-SUPAERO are also located in this XXIst century library!
The LCR Architects firm (Toulouse) has made this HQE-certified building a very bright contemporary place open to its external environment.
THE MARIE MARVINGT AVIATION LIBRARY: THE NEW HAUNT FOR STUDENTS, RESEARCHERS AND AEROSPACE ENTHUSIASTS
The space, a place of knowledge, exchange and sharing, is open to students, teachers, researchers from ISAE-SUPAERO and from the University of Toulouse, students from institutions in the region and more broadly to any outside person.
Extended opening hours allow users to access them in the evening up to 10:00 pm on weekdays. Saturday opening and late openings until 2 am on weekdays are currently being considered.
A MAJOR SUPPORT FOR THE ISAE-SUPAERO FOUNDATION
The ISAE-SUPAERO Foundation helped fit out the Learning Center to the tune of nearly €96,000 thanks to the support of donors.
Indeed, in recognition of two fund-raising operations totaling €39,000 in donations, two rooms are now named:
> The Mr. Jean-Claude Vannier room (S 1976) thanks to his donation of €10,000
> The Jacques Emile Blamont meeting room due to a collective donation of nearly €30,000 from the CNES community, to which the CNES itself contributed.
In a second step, more than €56,000 was donated to fit out the Marie Marvingt Aviation Library thanks to donations from the ISAE-SUPAERO Foundation’s special donors.
