Launch of the IMOTHEP project on hybrid electric propulsion for commercial aviation.
In Brussels on 20 January 2020, the project IMOTHEP (Investigation and Maturation of Technologies for Hybrid Electric Propulsion) has officially been launched. It is financed by the European Commission under the Horizon 2020 framework program. ISAE-SUPAERO is part of a consortium of thirty-three key aviation industry and research stakeholders under the leadership of ONERA, the French aerospace research laboratory. Within the workpackage dedicated to aeropopulsive integration, ISAE-SUPAERO will contribute in the field of propulsor modelling and inlet design targeting disruptive configurations
Our researchers from of Aerodynamics, Energetics and Propulsion Department (DAEP) will take part to this project, whose purpose is to achieve the potential of hybrid electric propulsion for reducing the emissions of commercial aviation and eventually to build the technology roadmap for its development.
