INEMAR: AVIATION AT THE SERVICE OF THE OFFSHORE WIND ENERGY INDUSTRY
Available online :
Combining aviation and renewable marine energies? Four companies in Occitanie and ISAE-SUPAERO are collaborating on this issue at the heart of the INEMAR project: In French INEMAR stands for wind turbine inspections in the sea by robust automatic drones!
As part of the development of the offshore wind sector, this project aims to automate inspections of offshore wind turbines. The system, consisting of an aerial drone and an underwater drone to inspect the overall structure, will ensure the wind turbines are kept in the best possible working condition.
Backed up by ISAE-SUPAERO’s aerospace engineering expertise, these four companies want to offer an innovative, all-embracing and multi-disciplinary solution. Scientists from our Design and Operation of Aeronautical and Space Vehicles Department are working on the one hand to improve control laws for automatic piloting of the drone at sea; secondly on modelling and taking aerological aspects into account.
> Donecle : Specialized in automatic inspection
> DIODON Drone Technology : Designs/manufactures mini-drones for marine and coastal environments
> TMI-Orion : Designs/manufactures/markets underwater robotics solutions and measurement systems in severe or constrained environments
> 8.2 France : expertise and consultancy services in the field of renewable energies
The consortium’s ambition is to develop a drone prototype with a very low carbon footprint within two years. INEMAR is fully in line with ISAE-SUPAERO’s Horizons sustainable development strategy aimed at promoting sustainable aviation solutions.
