Meeting with Edouardo Mariani Placidi

Present your career path

2016: after graduating from Arts & Métiers ParisTech, I started my career in the UK in an industrial foundry manufacturing metal parts for Formula 1 engines.

2017: Back in France, working as a Project Quality Engineer on the industrialisation of mechatronic components for electric motors for hybrid cars.

2021: Develops as a Technical Product Engineer in R&D and V&V on mechatronic components for electric motors for hybrid cars.

Why did you apply for the MS HADA? Why did you think it would be a plus?

5 years ago, I discovered hybrid-electric aircraft and eVTOLs. I was immediately convinced that these new architectures would be a real ‘game changer’ in the mobility industry, with positive socio-economic and environmental impacts.

I embarked on this very high-level Advanced Master’s® programme in order to be well prepared to become a pioneer in this industry. My aim was to make up for my lack of knowledge and technical skills associated with aeronautical products.

My aim is to re-use my experience in the automotive sector, supplemented by the HADA Advanced Masters®, in projects for aeronautical companies pioneering the future of aviation, with innovative fixed-wing and/or rotary-wing architectures.

In your opinion, what are the strengths of the Mastère Spécialisé® HADA? How will it help you achieve your career goals?

I really like the way the ISAE-SUPAERO Advanced Masters® are organised, because the programme is based on a short, specialised academic course focusing on the essential technical aspects of aeronautics, followed by a practical thesis project.

What’s more, the professional network available to me is invaluable and helps enormously in securing job interviews. This structure will provide me with the legitimacy and credibility to join companies in the aeronautics sector from an automotive background in the best possible conditions with the skills best suited to my career objectives.

Can you tell us about the VTOL module you are taking? How is it a highlight of the course and how will it help you in your future career?

The VTOL module, taught in the Airbus Helicopters buildings in Marignane, is the most exciting and unique part of this Advanced Masters®. Not many institutions or companies teach rotorcraft engineering! We have the privilege of learning about all the technological solutions for Airbus Helicopters machines and their sub-systems. What’s more, as all the teachers are Airbus employees, we have access to a network of over 30 professionals.

What type of job would you like to do after your training?

I would like to take up positions at the same or higher hierarchical level than before the Advanced Masters®, but in aeronautical companies, with the aim of maximising my added value for the company. Ideally, positions such as Project Engineer, V&V Engineer, Technical Team Leader and Technical Project Coordinator.
